AESON LIMINAL is a three-year programme comprising land art works, artist residencies, workshops, walking trails, meetings and collaborative activities with local communities. The environmental artworks serve as landmarks that draw attention to undefined places – sometimes hidden or merely passing points – incorporating them into a wider cultural heritage.
AESON LIMINAL is a new cycle of environmental art projects that traverses Friuli Venezia Giulia as a space for research, encounter and transformation.
In the period following Gorizia’s tenure as European Capital of Culture, the project continues and expands the AESON initiative, focusing on areas of landscape transformation: rivers, embankments, rural and natural zones where nature, memory and contemporary life intertwine. Marginal places that coexist and endure between the human and the wild.
Liminality signifies threshold, transition, change. It is from this that the intention arises to explore the relationship between the biological and cultural diversity of these territories and to attempt to build new social and community values capable of engaging with contemporary evolution.
