The Istro-Veneto town is once again ready to welcome thousands of masks which will invade its squares and narrow streets during the most colourful and cheerful week of the year. Its fun-packed schedule gives its visitors the opportunity to watch or participate first-hand in various shows or traditional moments, every day of the week. The very ancient Dance of the Vegetables, the handing over of the town’s keys to the Carnival King and the funeral are just some of the events that will encompass the seven unmissable days of joy, colour and entertainment, and make this a unique and unmissable event.
The float parade, the most eagerly-awaited event, will take place on February 15th at 1.00 pm.
Eight companies (Bellezze Naturali, Bulli e Pupe, Bora, Brivido, Lampo, Mandrioi, Ongia and Trottola) manage to preserve the old charm of the Muggia Carnival with their great artistic talent and playful spirit. They organise a theatrical performance staged along the streets of Muggia with the help of over 2000 figures, accompanied by 9 bands and around thirty wonderful floats. The floats are driven by complex mechanical systems that are the result of several years of patient work by passionate craftsmen and volunteer technicians.
The Muggia Carnival is not just a realisation of a popular tradition, it is an expression of the very nature of each Muggia resident who gives it their all day after day, every year, in order to bestow this magical week on Muggia.
A magic which is steeped throughout the entire town and is sure to enchant you.
