The First Prize in 2012 at the prestigious ARD Competition in Munich (along with the Audience Prize) marked the ARMIDA QUARTET's breakthrough on the international scene. Founded in Berlin in 2006, the Quartet chose to adopt the name of Haydn's opera “Armida”. They studied with members of the Artemis Quartet and with Schmidt of the Hagen Quartet, receiving artistic and interpretative guidance from Brendel, Levin, Tabea Zimmermann and Prischepenko. After concerts and radio recordings as “BBC New Generation Artists” and later as “ECHO Rising Stars”, the four musicians established themselves as regular guests in the most famous chamber music concert halls in Europe, Asia and the United States. Since 2021, the Quartet has been a frequent guest at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Rügen Festival. Armida continued its artistic activity by performing R. Humet's composition “Fragil” for quartet and electronic instruments in Barcelona, at the Beethoven Haus in Bonn, together with violist Zimmermann, at the Louvre in Paris and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. New ideas increasingly characterise the ensemble's activity, and one of the most significant is the cycle of Mozart quartets entitled “Mozart Exploded”.
