The Sailing School at Porto San Rocco is directed by Roberto Sponza, an Olympic sailor in the 470 class, and Marina Senni, a physical education teacher. The school follows the programs of the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV) for both the "Gioco Vela" program aimed at children and courses for older kids. The students are guided by FIV instructors, experienced sailing assistant instructors, swimming instructors, and physical education teachers.
- Location: Strada per Lazzaretto, 2 - 34015 Muggia (TS)
- Opening: From June to the end of August, excluding the week of Ferragosto.
- Languages: Italian
- Clothing: Comfortable sportswear (swimsuit, shorts, t-shirt, and sweatshirt), a complete change of clothes, swimsuit, flip-flops, and towel for pool activities, closed shoes that can get wet, waterproof jacket or K-way for rainy days, toiletries for the end-of-day shower, high-protection sunscreen, hat (sunglasses are also useful).
- Equipment: Provided by the Yacht Club Porto San Rocco.
- Boats used: Optimist (single-person training boat suitable for children) and FIV 555 dinghies (4-5 person training boat suitable for older kids with an instructor on board). Each student will always have the opportunity to be on board.
- Registration: At the Porto San Rocco Management Office, from Monday to Saturday from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM. A medical certificate for non-competitive sports activities must be presented upon registration.
- Course schedule: Weekly courses run from Monday to Friday, from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
- On request, early drop-off is possibile from 9:00 AM.
- There is also the possibility to meet an instructor in Trieste at 8:55 AM (to reach Porto San Rocco with the Delfino Verde ferry departing at 9:00 AM).
- Return: scheduled at 5:30 PM, the arrival time of the Delfino Verde in Trieste.
- Age group: 8 (turning 8 in 2020) to 16 years old
- Daily course program: Swimming in the pool with an instructor, sailing theory with FIV instructors, boat preparation, sailing in the late morning, lunch at the restaurant, afternoon sailing, and taking down the boats' rigging.
* The registration fee includes the sailing course, swimming course in the pool, lunch, mandatory lifejacket rental, possible Delfino Verde ticket, and course gadgets. The mandatory FIV membership card is also included in the price.
