Founded in 1945, the
Circolo della Vela Muggia, based in
Muggia, is one of the leading sailing clubs in the Gulf of
Trieste. Located at the foot of
Muggia Castle, just a few minutes from Trieste and the Slovenian border, the club has a waterfront base with more than
100 berths and offers activities for children, teenagers and adults.
The
sailing school provides courses
for all ages and skill levels, from first experiences at sea to competitive sailing. For adults, recreational and technical sailing sessions on cabin yachts are available, offering an ideal introduction to the world of sailing through both practical and theoretical activities.
During the
summer, the club also organises
courses and activities for children and teenagers aged 6 to 14, including sailing outings, theory lessons, sports activities and social opportunities under the guidance of qualified instructors.
Sailing for all agesThroughout the year, the club also hosts major sailing events that attract athletes and sailing enthusiasts from across Italy: in spring, the Olimpic Sails Optimist Regatta (April–May), the National 29er Regatta and Vela Day (May), followed by the Trofeo 3 Golfi and Coppa Primavera (June). In autumn, the historic Coppa Città di Muggia and Trofeo Pino Suraci take place (October).
