Hiking route that, starting from the hamlet of Chiaicis, encircles the eastern part of the lake.
The artificial basin of Verzegnis, created in 1957 thanks to the damming of the Ambiesta stream by SADE, still feeds the Somplago hydroelectric power plant today. Although not suitable for swimming, the lake is an ideal place for those who love tranquility and nature: fishing is possible and, in periods when the water level drops, a small islet that emerges in the basin can be easily reached.
The panoramic route around the lake offers spectacular views: from the start or from the bridge you can admire a unique view of the majestic Monte Amariana. The walk winds through enchanting woods to reach the spectacular dam, 60 meters high and 140 long, which can be crossed on its crest.
On the return, there are some suspension bridges without side protections: an adventurous and evocative section that requires attention, especially due to sometimes poorly visible signage.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
Hike not to be undertaken in case of uncertain weather, snow cover, or ice on the ground (there are slippery and exposed sections).
In the final part, on the return, a steady step and absence of vertigo are necessary due to some suspension bridges lacking protections.
Along the loop, water sources are almost absent; on particularly hot days consider carrying an adequate amount of water.
