Hike that, from the hamlet of Chiaicis, corrals the eastern part of the lake in a loop.
The Verzegnis reservoir, created in 1957 by the damming of the Ambiesta stream by SADE, still feeds the Somplago hydroelectric power plant. Although it is not swimmable, the lake is an ideal place for those who love peace and nature: fishing is possible and, during periods when the water level drops, a small islet that emerges in the basin can be easily reached.
The scenic trail around the lake offers spectacular views: from the start or the bridge you can admire a unique view of the majestic Mount Amariana. The walk winds through enchanting forests until you reach the spectacular 60-meter-high, 140-meter-long dam, which you can cross on its crowning feature.
On the way back, one encounters some suspension bridges without side protection: an adventurous and evocative stretch, but one that requires attention, especially because of the sometimes poorly visible signage.
It is recommended to do the trail in the late afternoon so that you can enjoy the sunset on the way back. Not recommended if you suffer from vertigo.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
Hike not to be undertaken in case of uncertain weather, snowfall or ice on the ground (has slippery and exposed sections).
In the final part, a minimum of steady step and absence of vertigo are required on the return due to some suspension bridges without protection.
Water sources are almost absent along the loop; on particularly hot days consider having an adequate amount of water resources with you.
