The trail, classified E - hiking, does not present technical difficulties but requires a minimum of training given the 400m positive elevation gain. It runs mainly on trails (CAI 702/a and CAI 702), crossing vast pastures and gentle ridges that offer wide views of the surrounding mountains and the Tagliamento River.
One of the main strengths of the hike is its remarkable botanical value: during the summer, the meadows come alive with rich blooms and the presence of rare and protected species. At the start you meet grazing cows, on the highest peaks you can observe chamois and in flight eagles and griffon vultures.
Along the loop you will encounter two mountain huts, evidence of the local alpine tradition. In particular, Malga Confin, the starting and finishing point, represents an added value both from a food and wine point of view, with the possibility of stopping to eat and buy typical products, and from a cultural point of view, offering a glimpse of the still active pasture life.
At the end of the itinerary a stop at Malga Confin will know how to restore your strength and you can buy excellent dairy products.
For more trained and experienced people, it is possible to continue the ascent to the summit of Mount Plauris, for a total of about 700m of positive elevation gain, 8.5km in length and some passages classified EE - experienced hikers
