Prescudin Forest

Nestled in the Friulian Dolomites Park, the Prescudin Forest in Barcis is a small, wild paradise where nature remains pristine and peaceful. A place teeming with vegetation, where beech and black pine trees predominate.

The area is accessible on foot through an easy path, suitable for children and families. The trailhead is located in Arcola, past Lake Barcis, along the course of the Cellina stream.

A pleasant walk of about an hour leads to the vast picnic area in the heart of the woodland, where Villa Emma stands. The property, together with the two neighboring buildings that served as a stable and dairy farm, belonged to the Counts of Cattaneo, a family of major landowners from Pordenone, who used the estate as a summer residence. Today, the villa and the other buildings are owned by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and together they serve as a naturalistic research and observation center.

This area heads down to the stream to cool off on hot days or continues along more challenging signposted trails that climb the surrounding slopes with stunning views of the forest peaks.
