The Paleolake of Forni di Sotto Geological Trail is a loop starting from Forni di Sotto and allows you to observe some elements of interest in the field of earth sciences. In particular, the route connects: the alluvial fan of the Auza Stream, the lake sediments of the Paleolake of Forni di Sotto, the spring "Aghe da la Puze", the succession of Upper Triassic rocks, the gorge of the Poschiadea Stream, and the Sacròvint paleo-landslide. The alluvial fan of the Auza Stream, the lake sediments of the Paleolake of Forni di Sotto, and the Sacròvint landslide are part of the main elements of the national-level complex geosite called the "Upper Valley of the Tagliamento River".

From the starting/ending point, located at Forni di Sotto, by asphalt road first and dirt road afterwards, you reach the bed of the Tagliamento River, where the lake sediments of the paleolake of Forni di Sotto frequently outcrop. Staying on the left bank, follow the dirt road until you reach the asphalt road again for a few hundred meters, and then by path, you arrive at the spring “Aghe da la Puze”. Retrace the path until the asphalt road, follow it until the bed of the Tagliamento River, cross it by a dirt ford and reach the outcrop of “dolomia cariata”, base of the Upper Triassic succession. Continuing on the dirt road, enter the final part of the Poschiadea Stream valley and, passing through outcrops of the “Monticello Formation” and “Forni Dolomia”, reach the viewpoint over the Poschiadea Stream gorge. Retrace the dirt road back to the ford of the Tagliamento River, then take the road to the right, cross the ford of the Poschiadea Stream and reach the viewpoint over the alluvial fan of the Auza Stream visible on the opposite side of the valley. Continue along the dirt road until the Sacròvint Bridge, located at the upper limit of the Sacròvint paleo-landslide. Take the road again, now asphalted, until you reach the starting/ending point.
