Pleasant route (although with a certain slope) that from Piano d'Arta leads to a curious geological scenario – the Cjampanii dal Lander - passing by a charming bivouac and a full view of the central section of the Valle del But.
Path 408 starts from the small chapel in the center of Arta Terme (550 m asl), at the intersection between SP111 and via Comelli, the one that goes up to the church. Follow the latter until passing the last houses; the asphalt gives way to dirt, and following the path without detouring, go down to cross the Torrente Randice. The path resumes on the opposite bank, uphill through the forest; the slope will decrease slightly near the crucifix. Watch out for the curious bear sighting management system (just kidding...); at the only fork, follow the path to “Bivacco Lander”, which you reach in a few minutes (1190 m asl).
Exceptional view of the Valle del But: on clear days you can see the Friulian plain, the lagoons of Grado and Marano, and the sea.
Behind the bivouac, beyond a wide forest road, there is a small path that climbs to the Campanili del Lander. About fifteen minutes zigzagging between forest and cliff (the path is not exposed, and there is a good railing), and you arrive at the lookout of the Campanili del Lander (1240 m asl), a perfect spot to observe the large ancient landslide and the shapes carved by subsequent erosion, as well as the Madonnina del Lander.
Ring the bell and descend the same way.
