In the Carnic Pre-Alps, on the edge of the Regional Natural Park of the Friulian Dolomites, a rugged territory is deeply marked by the waters of the Meduna torrent. On these steep slopes, millennia and past eras have designed a waterway dotted with small, iridescent beaches, a corner of paradise on earth where the spray from the torrential streams settles to form the incredible natural waters of the “Emerald green pools”. Intimate spaces are spread between the large limestone blocks of the slopes of these mountains and everyone can find their own corner of natural beauty, enjoying the intense stillness of the primordial elements that are perfectly combined in this valley. A captivating, remote, and primitive setting capable of enchanting international tourists too, who have included these emerald green natural deep-water pools in the top ten Italian beach destinations.
Itinerary details:
From Tramonti di Sopra, in Val Tramontina, near the Madonna della Salute church follow the signs for the Pozze area, climbing up along Via Pradiel. At the end of the asphalt road (small car park), continue along the forest track restricted to traffic, which enters the valley and leads to the area of the Pozze in about 30 minutes of easy hiking which is accessible to everyone.
We recommend wearing appropriate clothing for the hike, which in any case takes place in a mountain environment: proper hiking shoes will guarantee the right grip near the pools where the rocky terrain can be slippery.
