1. Lower and Upper Fusine Lakes

An easy walk which is suitable for everyone in a natural setting that is both rewarding and extremely fascinating.
Details: the loop trail leads around the lakes including a short connecting section through the woods. From the car park at the upper lake, head westwards to the shore and continue along the clearly signposted path. Both lakes can be visited in roughly 1.15 hours of easy hiking, with a total elevation gain of approximately 70 metres.

2. Predil Lake

The perfect hike to immerse yourself in the autumn colours of the Julian Alps and be lost in the crystal-clear depths of the waters of Raibl Lake, while the leaves of the surrounding beech woods contrast with the green of the fir trees.
Details: from the car park near the junction for Sella Nevea-Passo del Predil, follow a section of Provincial Road S.P. 76 (in the direction of Sella Nevea) past the Predil fort. Shortly after the end of the lake, descend to the left along a dirt road that becomes a path and leads, in a northerly direction, to the Predil Pass state road. A short stretch in the forest leads back to the street which in turn heads back to the starting point. The loop trail’s hiking time is roughly 2.00 hours, the degree of difficulty is moderate (Italian CAI level E), and it features a total elevation gain of approximately 170 metres.

3. Orrido dello Slizza (Oslizza Gorge)

An evocative trail that wanders through the thousands of colours of the Tarvisio forest, where the waters meet the autumn woods.
Details: travelling along the state road from Tarvisio to Fusine, on the left, you enter the Boscoverde village along Via Bamberga. Following the signposts for the path, park your car in the clearing next to the bike track, and in a few minutes, you will reach the soldier's monument. From here the path descends, steep in places and with small hairpin bends, to the clear waters of the Slizza river. We proceed along the picturesque gorge carved out by the waters on spectacular footbridges and tunnels, then climb back up comfortable steps to the starting point. The loop trail’s hiking time is roughly 1.30 hours, the degree of difficulty is moderate (Italian CAI level E), and it features a total elevation gain of approximately 70 metres.

4. The Bartolo Valley trail

Pastoral landscapes which are within the reach of curious trekkers who are immediately impressed by the thousands of shades that nature displays here.
Details: from the last houses of Camporosso (signposts for Val Bartolo) proceed along the valley's main road, which for a stretch corresponds to CAI trail 509. Remaining at the bottom of the valley, you reach open meadows dotted with charming alpine huts. Following the same direction, the road leads to the Bartolo ridge where the itinerary ends. The degree of difficulty is moderate (Italian CAI level E). The hiking time is roughly 3.00 hours with a total elevation gain of approximately 350 metres.

1. The trail of Resonance Trees

A journey to the centre of the Saisera Valley, where ancient beech and fir forests meet the stark cliffs of the Julian Alps.
Details: from the centre of Valbruna, near the Hotel Saisera, the signposted route runs along the right bank of the Saisera Valley to the peaks of Mount Piccolo Nabois. The degree of difficulty is moderate (Italian CAI level E). The entire trail’s hiking time is roughly 4.00 hours with a total elevation gain of approximately 230 metres. It is possible to shorten the route by choosing the Saisera Hutte (P1 Val Saisera) car park or the car park near the Oitzinger meadow farm as starting points.

2. Puanina Tour trails

Walking and hiking in that suspended world of alpine pastures and alpine huts, which in autumn wears warm, deep shades. Itineraries along gentle slopes, through meadows as well as beech, fir, and larch forests.
Details: from Ugovizza, the full length of the “Puanina Tour” connects the alpine pastures and farmsteads of the Rauna, Filza, and Uque valleys, with a total length of 7.00 hours and a total elevation gain of approximately 1,000 metres. It is possible to partially cover the route by reaching the high-altitude car parks with your vehicle.

3. “Abschnitt Saisera” Great War thematic trail

The memory of the conflict experienced here mixed with the emotions of nature in preparation for the long winter hibernation in the Saisera Valley. Before the snow a display of hues that will amaze even the most distracted traveller.
Details: from the Jof di Montasio inn (P3 in the Saisera Valley), descend the meadow plain for a few hundred metres until you meet the route signposts. There are 3 itineraries with varying degrees of difficulty. The most demanding, marked in red, has a total elevation gain of approximately 300 metres and a duration of 3.00 hours. The degree of difficulty is moderate (Italian CAI level E).

4. The Valbruna Valley trail

A route well suited to breathe in the magical atmosphere of the foliage, along the meadows of the Valbruna valley plain, a stone's throw from the multicoloured mountains, in this period even more majestic due to the myriad of colours on display.
Details: from the Fiorini grocery store and café near Valbruna, the route encircles the meadows of the valley plains with no obligatory way to the Beisner fort and returns to the starting point after passing in the vicinity of the Baita dei Sapori. No elevation gain, walking time 1.00 hour, and the degree of difficulty is easy (Italian CAI level T).

The area of Sella Nevea

1. Montasio alpine huts loop trail

This is a route for medium-trained hikers that is rewarding with its infinitely scenic views in the higher reaches of the trail. Splendid colours towards Val Raccolana.
Details: from the large car park near the G.d.F. barracks at Sella Nevea, climb CAI trail 625 in the direction of Casera Cregnedul di Sopra. When you reach the building, continue westward following an extended crossroad (CAI trail 624) reaching the Montasio plateau and the Pecol cheese factories. Descending towards the nearby asphalt road, you return to the starting point, remaining closely on the paved surface as far as Sella Nevea. The degree of difficulty is moderate (Italian CAI level E). The hiking time is roughly 4.30 hours with a total elevation gain of approximately 400 metres.

2. Fontanone di Goriuda

A corner of untouched nature that in autumn becomes a spectacle within a spectacle: the magic of crystal-clear water falling on a sea of burning beech trees.
Details: driving up the Raccolana valley from Chiusaforte in the direction of Sella Nevea, just beyond the village of Piani, you can park near the trattoria "Al Fontanon" from where the waterfall is already visible. Following the provincial road for about twenty metres, at the monument to the cyclist, signposts guide you along an easy path that enters the woods to the base of the Fontanon, which can be reached, on hiking terrain suitable for all, in about 5 minutes.
