1. Ring of the Carbonaie and Col Cornier
Autumn paints the wide plains surrounding Piancavallo with embracing colours.
This circular excursion, of medium difficulty level, develops between short ups and downs through the beech forest and the signs of the charcoal pits, flat spaces of land where until the 1950s workers transformed wood into coal, an important source of income for the inhabitants of the Friulian foothills.
Details: starting from the Piancavallo Infopoint (via Collalto 1), reach the Maria Ausiliatrice Church and take the botanical path following the indications of the white-red CAI trail signs and path 992. The itinerary is well signposted. The degree of difficulty is moderate (Italian CAI level E). The length of the hike is roughly 3.30 hours, with an elevation gain of approximately 530 metres.
