What to do at high altitude

A land of encounters where the traditions of three peoples embrace each other in that strip of woods, meadows and rocks between the most impressive peaks of the Julian Alps and the rounded ridge of the Carnic Alps.
In summer, Tarvisio offers the opportunity to climb to the top of Mount Santo di Lussari by chairlift, visit the picturesque village near the top at 1780 metres, and visit the hidden corners and the sanctuary while enjoying the traditional dishes of this borderland. The view from this privileged point ranges from the rocky peaks of Montasio and Jof Fuart to the austere Slovenian peaks and the Austrian perennial glaciers.
For families, fun is guaranteed in the valley's Fun Park, a green space full of attractions dedicated to the little ones, where an exhilarating alpine coaster and zipline will also delight the grown-ups.
Are you a biker? The Angels Bike Park, accessible via the chairlift of the same name, offers endless downhill rides and fun! And if you are a road cycling enthusiast, besides the Alpe Adria cycle path, you can tackle the Giro d'Italia climb, which is only accessible uphill by bike, with a mandatory return via the cable car. Distance: 20.4 km (full stage from Tarvisio to Monte Lussari), Duration: 2:40 h, Ascent: 1,073 m, Descent: 46 m, Highest point: 1,783 m, Lowest point: 728 m.

Excursion to enjoy when you reach the peak:
Cima Cacciatore
An excursion that reaches the nearby dome of Cima Cacciatore at 2071 metres through the intimate amphitheatre below the summit. A metal cable facilitates the last stretch of ascent, so confidence with this type of equipment is required.
Difficulty: medium - expert excursionists (equipped part is easy)
Duration one-way: 1.30 hours from the peak of Mount Lussari
Elevation gain: about 400 metres
Signposts: CAI 617 and CAI 613

Rio Freddo
Very long and wide-ranging excursion in the presence of the austere north faces of the Jof Fuart and the Gran Nabois. It is necessary to organize a pick up from the village of Rio Freddo for the return to Tarvisio. A path with a broken section (declared unusable by the CAI) is facilitated by a fixed rope.
Difficulty: medium - expert excursionists (brief equipped part)
Duration: 4.00 hours from the peak of Mount Lussari
Elevation gain: About 200 m
Signposts: CAI 617, CAI 615 e CAI 618
