A turquoise interlude among the forests of the Tolmezzine Pre-Alps:
Verzegnis Lake. Originally flowing from the Ambiesta stream, it is an artificial basin created in the 1950s and is nestled between the mountains in the municipality of
Verzegnis. Its location, far from any major communication routes, offers a dive into the nature and peacefulness of this corner of Carnia. Due to the particularity of its waters, used mainly for hydroelectric purposes, this lake cannot be used for swimming, but you can still thoroughly enjoy its beauty with
long strolls along its shores in the direction of the large dam or through relaxing moments with your
fishing rod, waiting for one of the many trout there to bite your hook!
Several trails run alongside the lake and cater to
MTB enthusiasts or those who, intrigued by a not-too-distant past, will want to wander through the alleyways of the hamlets of
Fuignis and Pusea, now
abandoned villages where a
charm of past times survives. In Pusea you will encounter a sign that reads,
"Welcome to Pusea, land of enchantment, no one leaves it without regret."
