In the immediate vicinity of Tarvisio, this universally accessible hiking trail explores the spectacular Slizza Gorge, where the river of the same name has been carving through the rocks along these cliffs for millennia, burrowing inside forested landscapes of significant biodiversity.
The monument to the Austro-Hungarian soldier is the entrance to a primordial environment where minute beaches of coloured pebbles steal the scene from deep, emerald-coloured pools, waters that provide the background sound for a nature hike among footbridges, tunnels, excavated caverns, and rocks eroded by time. The route, which can be hiked in a loop of about 90 minutes, requires no special equipment other than a good pair of hiking shoes and a great desire to be amazed.

Driving along the state road from Tarvisio to Fusine on the left, enter Località Boscoverde along Via Bamberga. Follow the signs for the trail and park your car in the clearing next to the bike path, and in a few minutes, you reach the monument to the soldier. From here the path descends, steep in places and with small hairpin bends until it reaches the clear waters of the Slizza stream. It proceeds along the picturesque gorge carved by the waters across spectacular footbridges and tunnels, and then back up comfortable steps to the starting point.
