Description
Downstream access
Coming from Tolmezzo, along State Road 52B, about 2Km over the jail, park nearby the small ENEL powerhouse at the end of the pathway to the right.
Upstream access
Leave the car nearby the Illegio graveyard, and walk down an easy trail until the creek bed.
Illegio graveyard GPS coordinates: 46.431821, 13.055908
After walking into the creek, proceed along the bed for about 1Km. Halfway, find the ENEL water intake, which you can easily pass over to the right.
The first jump you meet is also the gorge’s tallest and most challenging. The resting point is located in the niche to the left. To reach it, it is indespensable to set up an exposed handrail. From here the 33mt slope is completely run over by the flow and ends in an easy pool. Another 10mt slope is followed by short, curvy stretch and a dark, flat maze. After the end of the maze, there remain 3 10mt slopes. The gorge ends brusquely, right in front of the small powerhouse indicated as “downstream access”.
