Artillery battery of Costa Curnic

On the left bank of the Fella River, on the so-called Costa Curnic, there used to be an artillery battery consisting of four 75 mm steel guns supporting the Fortress of Chiusaforte. Today, you can still see the emplacements where the guns were installed as well as other war relics near the Stavoli Curnic, which leads through an interesting walk along military posts, bunkers and barrack ruins.

Leave your car right before the first bridge on the Rio Raccolana River, on provincial road SP76 heading to Sella Nevea, then take CAI trail No. 632 leading to the Gilberti cabin and follow it until you see a military cart road (at 980 metres ASL, after about 1 hour and 40 minutes). Here, take the cart road on the left, where you can see two emplacements for anti-aircraft guns, and proceed until you see the remains of Stavoli, where the road ends. Use the same track to go back to the departure point.
