Cycling through the Valle Cavanata Regional Nature Reserve - Grado

There is a special place in Grado where I often go cycling with my three children, the Valle Cavanata Regional Nature Reserve. Our trip always starts from the visitors' centre in Via Grado in Fossalon.

After crossing a small wooden bridge, we turn right and continue along the valley immersed in silence and surrounded by nature, where we can see swans, wild geese, birds of prey and, above all, admire spectacular pink flamingos. You cycle along a simple quiet road for 3 kilometres, arriving at the embankment, where you can have a wonderful view over the entire Gulf of Trieste.

Continuing to ride amid the silence and the scent of the sea we reach Punta Sdobba, a small cluster of fishermen's houses, where we stop to pick blackberries. On the way back, we follow the dirt road that runs along the embankment, take the second turning, and at the end of the road rest and admire some donkeys.

A little further on, in summer, we cannot help but stop at the farm to eat a delicious ice cream and challenge each other at table football. We could choose to do this trip every day and it would always be a surprise. The colours that surround us and the unspoilt environment make us increasingly aware that we are lucky to live in a wonderful town like Grado.
