In the winter/spring months it is best to climb with crampons due to possible presence of ice. Depending on the condition of the snowpack you may face the hike with snowshoes. Always consult the Weather and attention to the Avalanche Bulletin before setting off.
At a fork in the road at an elevation of 1550 m, a short distance from the spring Pozzo di Suttul, take the forest track on the right that slightly uphill leads to Casera Vas (1607 m), located in the center of a scenic clearing (possibility of shelter). The forest track climbs again to the next fork (1650 m) where, taking a left on a narrow cartroad (CAI marker 169), you can reach Casera Monte dei Buoi (1723 m) and a beautiful pasture valley dotted with huge limestone boulders.
To return, descend back to the junction and take the track to the left that descends in a southerly direction (CAI marker 169) with a series of steep switchbacks. At an altitude of 1325 the road passes near a marble quarry in loc. Naguscel (Grigio Carnico marble) and continues downhill until above the village of Sigilletto. You can descend directly to the village on the marked trail (CAI 169) or continue along the road until you reach the rolling road to Collina. Follow the paved rolling road back to Frassenetto, thus closing the loop.
From Forni Avoltri drive up the road to Collina until you reach the entrance to the village of Frassenetto where you park your car, on the right, in a dirt square (1062 m; 2.2 km from Forni Avoltri).
