A marvelous view of the Fusine Lakes, one of the most naturalistically valuable places in the Alps, from the viewpoint of Mt. Svabezza.
The trail begins on the left of the road leading to the lower lake(CAI 512). It climbs through a mixed forest of spruce and beech to reach the viewpoint of Mount Svabezza (elevation 1284 m). After about an hour, the trail leaves the forest and proceeds to the right almost at altitude. You reach a point, below the rock walls, where the passage is facilitated by a wooden scaffold and a metal cable. Continue among the larch trees, past the Rio Forcella, and you will meet the junction with CAI path 512a, which leads to the Porticina. Turn left along CAI 512a that leads to the "Porticina." You descend from the Porticina to rejoin trail marker 512. You begin to descend reaching the lookout point. The route then continues along the forest road that descends to the valley. Descending you follow the same CAI 513 trail marker and reach the Upper Lake. At this point it will be necessary to travel about one more kilometer of paved road to regain the starting point.
