Depart from the Piancavallo Infopoint and turn right on Via Barcis to Hotel 1301 Inn. Near the hotel take the service road that runs alongside the soccer fields and continue to the Casera Capovilla. Take the Sorgente del Tornidor CAI 925 trail following the red-and-white markings.

Follow the forest path slightly downhill, from which you can see the currently productive Malga di Pian Mazzega. When you reach the spring, ascend to the right in the direction of the Piancavallo-Barcis road. This route crosses the rare geological feature of the Tornidor Spring. When you reach the vicinity of a renovated cheese factory, you can see the water reservoir.

Take the forest road to the right, paying attention to the red-white markings and signs. The path crosses Pian Mazzega and leads back to the malga where excellent cheese is produced. Continue slightly uphill in the false plain, paying attention to the new cross-country ski trails. Rejoin Via Barcis and return to the starting point.
