Hike through the green woods of Collio, where the Rio Snierdar flows , a watercourse that descends from the foothills behind Mount Quarin and flows into the valley floor at the foot of the mountain itself and Mount Mò.
Walking in the coolness of the oak, hornbeam and occasional birch forests, you will travel through the Valley to go in search of this fascinating primordial insect or to enjoy the spring blossoms of the undergrowth.
Ideal for those who want to immerse themselves in the wild soul of Collio, where the vineyards have fortunately not yet arrived. The route follows the Rio Snierdar, a watercourse that has not been modified by man in large part, thus allowing the presence of the rare dragonfly Cordulegaster heros, unmistakable for its yellow and black colors, found in Italy only in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Mostly forested route on undemanding hiking trails with presence of water rivulets and fords depending on the weather of the previous days.
I recommend combining the hike with a stop and walk at the nearby Plessiva Forest or the Heavenly Path trail.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
Area prone to backwater in case of rain with possible short bumpy sections.
Possible to start from Brazzano or you can leave your car in the locality of Plessiva/provincial road 14 in the vicinity of the Rio illustration sign.
Recommended time: spring for blooms and running water in the stream; July and August to observe the rare dragonfly.
