Mount San Simeone rises imposingly over the basin of Cavazzo Lake and the town of Bordano. Although the peak does not offer breathtaking views due to the installed radio antennas and vegetation cover, while the plateau of the mountain provides extraordinary views. From this vantage point, the eyes can wander among the pre-Alpine mountains, the surrounding hills, and the Friulian plain, creating a natural terrace from which to admire the landscape. This location is especially popular with skydivers, who consider it one of the best places to practice flying in Friuli. From a naturalistic point of view, the terrain is characterized by Jurassic limestone rocks, witnesses of about 200 million years of geological history. Hikers can immerse themselves in forests rich in hornbeams, ash trees, wild rowan trees, and hazels. In addition, it is not uncommon to observe the majestic griffon v ultures from nearby Cornino Lake gliding through the sky, enriching the experience with their majestic presence.

    Author’s recommendation

Wanting to shorten the route it is possible to start from the Interneppo Saddle, while if you want to increase the intensity of the hike reach the summit of Mt.
