Ring of Friendship Mountain from Poscolle
Climbing to the top of this mountain represents a cultural, historical and environmental journey. Mount Oven, also known as"Friendship Mountain," is in fact located on the border between Austria, Italy and Slovenia. Every summer its summit becomes the stage for Friendship Day, an event that celebrates the interculturality of these three nations. For decades, Mount Oven has symbolized unity and fraternity among peoples, hosting Friendship Day long before free transit between borders was made possible by the European Community. This tradition represents an important opportunity for meeting, dialogue and sharing, reconfirming the historical and cultural ties that unite these communities.
All along the loop, glimpses of the surrounding mountains will open up, allowing us to admire the beauty of the Alps, including beech, fir and incredible blooms.
For those who wish, it is possible to make the loop by avoiding the trails and continuing with a bicycle (dirt terrain!) or, possibly, with a hiking stroller.
