Challenging loop route on the mountain of the people of Tolmezzo. The trail develops within the geosite of Rivoli Bianchi with a view over the lower Carnia.
Route reserved for well-trained people. The trail crosses in the first part the Rivoli Bianchi scree slopes, a debris cone of M. Amariana which constitutes a geosite of supranational interest. The ascent takes place directly on the Troi di Cjadin with very steep sections among pine woods and rocks. Reaching the summit at altitude 1084m, the view stretches from the Tolmezzo basin and lower Carnia to the walls of M. Amariana, the bigger sister of Amarianute.
The return is along the Troi di Martin, which initially continues very steeply along the mountain slope.
Reaching a beautiful panoramic spot with a bench, you proceed descending with tight switchbacks towards the mountain base, from which you return to the starting point along a series of evident paths mostly along the contour, passing numerous patches of small pines.
Route not recommended during hot summer weather.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
No water sources along the route. Some sections are steep; it is advisable to wear footwear with good grip.
From the large parking lot at the crag, after crossing the road that leads to the village of Illegio, you descend to the large cone of the Rivoli Bianchi along a short dirt road. After passing a short flat stretch, you climb one of the many marked paths at the edge of the low vegetation aiming at the evident check dam at the top of the cone. Just before the concrete structure, turn right and follow the descending path leading to the start of the steep Troi di Cjadin which, followed uphill without chance of error, leads to the summit of M. Amarianute.
From the summit, heading southwest, the Troi di Martin descends along the mountain slope quickly reaching the panoramic clearing with the bench. Proceeding right with numerous switchbacks, you reach the base of the slope. Now turn right with a slight climb to bypass the vertical faces of the Amarianute reaching the crossroads passed earlier. Turning left, the path returns to the starting point, generally proceeding mostly downhill.
