Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
Do not undertake this hike in uncertain weather (the upper part is exposed to lightning and the steep terrain can become very slippery when raining) or on icy ground.
The upper section of the route, especially to reach the summit of Monte Flop, requires sure-footedness and absence of vertigo in some points.
Water sources along the loop are almost absent; on particularly hot days consider carrying an adequate amount of water supply.
Starting from the convenient parking, take the CAI 437 trail which ascends steeply first to the ruins of casera Flop and then to the Grauzaria refuge. Here continue along the same trail towards Foran del la Gjaline where you take the path that turns sharply right, taking the CAI 435 trail uphill until the ridge dividing the two peaks of Flop. On the right, descending from the main path, there is a grassy track that easily leads to the top of Flop East at 1715 m. From the summit, return back to rejoin CAI 435 and continue north to Forca Zouf di Fau where it meets the CAI 436 trail (partly path and partly forest road) which leads sharply downhill on the right first to the Zouf di Fau shelter and then to the village of Cjampiui and finally to the provincial road.
Turning right you walk a short uphill stretch on asphalt to the car parking.
Public-transport-friendly
The starting point of the road to the refuge is reachable by public transport.
Take the Moggio-Bevorchians line and get off at the Gialloz stop (10 minutes) which is beyond the new bridge over the Rio Fontanaz. On foot, cross the bridge again and ascend to the Nanghez parking, where the 437 trail to the Refuge begins.
