The hike starts from the car park at the lower end of the Montasio plateau and climbs up the meadows dotted with numerous alpine huts. Having passed near the Rif. Di Brazzà, the climb becomes steeper and enters at length on the ledges of the chain of peaks above the plateau.

The views of Val Raccolana and the Canin group are grandiose and become wider as we gain altitude. The path crosses the green slopes where encounters with tame ibexes are practically certain and aims for the upper notch between the Cima di Terrarossa and the Gambon peak, at the mouth of the Huda Paliza gully.

From the fork, via rocks and clear tracks, we reach Cima di Terrarossa at 2349m with spectacular views that now also open out onto the Jof Fuart group behind and the green Val Saisera. The descent is along the ascent route and, with the right equipment, can be varied via the Leva and Ceria Merlone routes (reserved for suitably equipped experts).
