Beautiful hike that touches on two casere used as bivouacs (Casera Podestine and Casera Caserata) through some of the most exemplary environments in the Friulian Dolomites.
From Pian de Cea (Claut) we descend on the ford and begin to walk along the eternal Grave da Giere on trail 376, heading north (we have two options: walk along the left or the right side of the dry riverbed; the environment changes regularly, so there are no stable markers).
When we come to see, on the left, the pylon of a meteorological survey point, we start bending to the left to climb the low "embankment," where we find the trace of an old cartroad. We thus arrive at the base of Casera Podestine (1024 m, can be reached in a few steps).
From here, we follow trail marker 368, which briefly follows the course of the Ciol de la Frata, to the point where it has to cross over rocks. We begin to climb the wooded slope of Mount Caserine Basse, initially with difficulty. The trail gradually becomes less steep, overcomes some crumbly gullies, and reaches the barely noticeable Forcella Caserata (1505 m). Caserata Hut (1479 m) is located before the fork, further down; it is an always open shelter.
Return is by the same route as on the way up.

Along the Grave di Giere pay attention to the landscape: the environment changes regularly, so there are no stable trail markers.
There is only one "troublesome" exposed point during the hike, between the two huts: it is to overcome a compact scree by means of a narrow track. It is only a few steps, to be done without hesitation.
Normal hiking equipment.
