From the locality of Pian Meluzzo (near Rifugio Pordenone, which can be reached from the town of Cimolais along the Val Cimoliana road) the itinerary begins by taking the wide, gravelly valley of Sciol de Mont. The route ascends the valley's scree until it bends to the right (crossing the stream with water) and penetrates the characteristic fir and larch forest of the Roncada, frequented by grouse.

With a short and worthwhile detour (signpost) you can reach the pasture of the homonymous casera (wooden shelter, open) and continue to reach the Forcella della Lama, an exceptional scenic (dolomitic panorama towards the Spalti di Toro and the Monfalconi) and wildlife observation point (window on the prairie animated by the presence of marmots and chamois). After passing a plateau(Pian de la Casera Vecia) and a last saddle(Forcella Savalóns), where it is possible to observe the late summer flowering of the floristic endemism gentian of Froelich, the trail descends shortly to the Casera Bregolina Grande (open shelter compartment).

The trail continues down the wide pasture and the fir forest below until it reaches and crosses a stream (Sciol de la Stua). The trail, now immersed in the beech forest, crosses other streams and reaches the meadow-pasture at the bottom of the valley (Pian Palaz) and then resumes climbing the opposite slope until it reaches the pastures and Casera Bregolina Piccola (open shelter room).

A last insalita section leads to the Forcella del Dof above and resumes decidedly downhill along the opposite slope in the forest rich in fir and larch until coming out at the pasture of Casera Col d'Aniei (spartan, open shelter). From here, the trail enters the Rio Cerosolin valley, characterized by a deep gorge, crossing the steep slopes with moderate gradient on a track dug into the rock and facilitated by the presence of wooden and stone passages until it reaches Val Settimana (Ponte del Ciarter locality, parking; from here it is possible to reach Claut along the Val Settimana road).
