Why did I wake up at six in the morning to catch a train that takes just under four hours to reach San Daniele del Friuliwhen I could get there by car in forty minutes? Simple: events like “Aria di Festa” are not just places to eat, but are real cultural events that tell of our people and our traditions, both inexorably linked to the territory.
Precisely for this reason I have chosen a slow tourism, because it gives you the opportunity to discover places that you would otherwise not see, and to touch the true soul of the territory: people. All enriched by being on board a historic train along the magnificent and immortal Sacile-Gemona line, along with people of all ages; and this made the adventure really special.
Once in the heart of San Daniele, I immediately understood why this event is called “Aria di Festa” (“A festive air”): you could literally breathe the commitment and passion to celebrate the local and renowned product that is Prosciutto di San Daniele.
Among the generous gifts of the Consorzio del Prosciutto, in addition to an excellent lunch, there was a bag containing various gifts, including a very useful book of recipes based on the famous cured ham, which I will certainly use well.
A couple of hours after lunch I returned to the train and its gentle gait, heading home, aware that next year I will be there again!
I am a young student and adventurer. I like to explore, discover and learn about places, stories and people. I love travelling and try to transcribe my emotions in the videos I make.
