Is it possible to go to the zoo and get to know some animals more closely? Certainly! The Parco zoo Punta Verde in Lignano offers the chance to experience close encounters with lemurs and giraffes. We did not miss the opportunity and on a sunny Sunday in June we went to meet the lemurs, the cheerful prosimians of Madagascar. At the Park you can find all the information about these encounters (including days and times).
The minimum age for this beautiful experience with the lemurs is five and the small contribution that is paid is donated to research projects and conservation of the place of origin of these animals. Led by an educator from the Park’s educational department, who clearly explained the characteristics of the lemurs and their habitat, we entered their “home” and stayed about half an hour in their company.
We observed them while they ate their beloved fruit from the artificial structures from whose holes the lemurs can extract food and which provide the necessary stimuli to ensure the psychological and physiological well-being of the captive animals, carefully prepared by our children before we came in. We admired them as they scrambled at the top of the trees. Not only that, for they too observed us and were not at all intimidated by our presence. They also sat next to us or even on our legs! For the joy of the children but also adults.
