Aquileia, a treasure chest

Food and cinema are the perfect combination for spending a special day in the city of Udine, letting yourself be tempted by Streeat, the festival of food trucks, and immersing yourself in the culture of the Far East Film Festival. The Far East Film Festival is one of the most important Asian film festivals in Europe, and for nine days transforms the city of Udine in full Asian style; the numerous side events proposed animate the streets of the city with demonstrations of martial arts, tea ceremonies and the stalls of the FEFF Market, a wonderful opportunity for a little shopping.
The air that reigns at the Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine is lively, crowded with cinephiles, young students and journalists crowding the atrium waiting for the films. I chose to see a film from China, Kung Fu Yoga, attracted by the name of the star, Jackie Chan. The film was shown in the original language but with subtitles, and tells the story of a famous archaeologist in search of an ancient treasure together with his team and a charming Indian colleague, travelling through Tibet, India and China. It is a film full of fast pace and comedy, and Jackie Chan does not disappoint the audience. After leaving the theatre, there was a change of register as I headed towards Piazza Primo Maggio to enjoy a plate of Argentine asado at the Food Truck Festival.
In a well-prepared location and with a good musical selection performed by Barley Arts, there were numerous food trucks in the form of Ape three-wheels vans, carts, vans, bicycles and caravans equipped with hot plates, ovens, friers and grills. Craft beers from the major Italian producers, wines and fruit juices accompanied quality food, creating a mood of sharing and partying.
