Where to eat prosciutto in San Daniele del Friuli

My personalized ranking of the places to eat the king of San Daniele: prosciutto.
Which are the best places to eat it in the capital of prosciutto?
Here is my TOP 3 list:

1) The Osteria di Tisiot
The Tisiot family will always make you feel at home. The osteria is on the statale (main road ) opposite the hospital. Inside you can admire the classic Friuli fogolâr (fireplace), but it also has an outdoor veranda where you can sit in the summer. If you want to eat something different from prosciutto... Well, this is not the right place for you!  Delight yourself with the hearty dish of succulent cured meats accompanied by cheeses, vegetables in oil, hot lard croutons with cream of balsamic vinegar and finish with one of their delicious desserts accompanied by a satisfying cup of Illy coffee.

2) La Casa del Prosciutto “Alberti 1906”
I like to call this place “the kingdom of Prosciutto”. To call it just “casa” (house) does not do it justice, because here prosciutto is the undisputed king. There is no place better than San Daniele to discover this cured meat. Ask the staff to take you on a tour of the prosciuttificio (processing plant).  With natural kindness, they will explain the 100% artisan processing method which has been handed down through the Alberti family for generations. The visit ends with a tasting of various parts of prosciutto from the fiocco which is a lean cut to the hock. A pleasure for the palate and for all the senses. A word of warning though: they only open at the weekend, during the week they produce the prosciutto!

3) Al Dolcenero
This is my favourite if I want to eat something else apart from prosciutto. As a starter, you can choose the excellent selection from the Camarin prosciuttificio, at different stages of ageing. Next, there is something for everyone: Focaccia bread with fillings, tagliolini pasta with San Daniele prosciutto, with delicious frico, (a melted cheese dish) but the meat is great too. Personally, I find their meat tagliata (sliced steak) with sautéed vegetables delicious (it is also a healthy option).

Mangjâ e murî (eat and die) is my favourite Friuli saying.
Firmly convinced that life is too short to not eat and drink well.
Lover of osterie (inns) and a glass of wine (a good one), maybe alternating with outdoors sports activity to do (to feel less guilty).
FVG represents the perfect combination of all this.
