Sea & Taste at Cona Island: my first time in a canoe

I adore the lagoon of our region: it is such a relaxing place, where everything is surrounded by peace and quiet. I have visited it many times in the past but always by motorboat and I have also been to Cona Island a few times but on foot. Well, I admit it... Canoeing with Sea&Taste is really something else. .
I had never been in a canoe before and I was curious to put myself to test. To tell the truth, it was not as easy as I thought but...I laughed so much when my friend and I couldn’t go in the right direction and couldn’t keep our synchronization: it is mainly a question of balancing strength, rhythm and communication with your companion. One piece of advice: if you decide to sit at the bow it is easier, while, if you are at the stern you have to paddle and steer at the same time acting as the helm. I tried both positions and to tell the truth I had better luck as a helmsman, even if it is more difficult. .
Between laughter and the desire to learn the right manoeuvres, time really flew by because I had never experienced the lagoon like this, at one-to-one with the water, sails and salt marshes in bloom, and it was a total immersion in this wonderful world. The nature guide that accompanies you, will tell you a few curiosities about this environment which is constantly shaped by the tides and where nature has adapted to survive in these conditions of strong salinity.
You will smell the santonego (aromatic lagoon plant), you will recognise the beautiful lilac of the lavender tree, you will see some waders in flight or searching for food and in the distance... the white Camargue horses. Upon returning from the excursion, you will also have some time to visit the island on foot, which is the heart of the Isonzo River Mouth Nature Reserve (I went up to the first observatory and finally saw the beautiful bee-eaters in person), before moving to the "Feudi di Romans" - the farm where you can enjoy well-deserved wine tasting accompanied by excellent cured meats and cheeses of local production. If you want to put yourself to the test like I did, by experiencing your first canoe ride in total safety, the sea&Taste experience is an excellent chance to learn while having fun. You just have to try it to believe it!

I’m also involved in educational activities with donkeys and I love walking at the pace of Noè, my little adopted donkey and a companion in our explorations of my Preval. I adore informing and amazing our guests, pampering and accompanying them as I tell them all the curious and original things to know about our environs.
