What to do at high altitude

Some of the proposed activities require adequate physical and technical preparation as they take place in a high mountain context. Weather forecasts must be checked in advance, and the itineraries evaluated based on your experience. We recommend tackling these excursions accompanied by professional guides to enjoy these environments in the name of safety.

A rocky island that rises beyond the Friuli plain and overlooks the upper Adriatic. It is precisely the fortunate position that gives the Canin mountain group one of the most consistent winter snowfalls of the entire Alpine arc. Water and rocks. Natural elements in Sella Nevea create a unique natural environment, recognized as a site of supranational interest, where the elements have shaped the territory incredibly and unexpectedly. During the summer, the chairlift from 1195 metres of Sella Nevea that leads to the Gilberti refuge at an altitude of 1,850 metres is open. The lift can also be accessed with your MTB. Once you reach the top, trekking routes of varying difficulty await you to lead you to historical and naturalistic sites, via ferratas (climbing routes with cables) and cliffs and the Gilberti refuge, where you can taste the typical dishes of the Friuli tradition.

A few steps from the arrival of the cable car, you can admire fossils and rock formations typical of karst landscapes.

Shelter accessible from the chairlift station:
