What to do at high altitude

Some of the proposed activities require adequate physical and technical preparation as they take place in a high mountain context. Weather forecasts must be checked in advance, and the itineraries evaluated based on your experience. We recommend tackling these excursions accompanied by professional guides to enjoy these environments in the name of safety.

The area of Piancavallo is a mountain balcony overlooking the entire Friuli plain. The Cavallo group stands out with its slender slopes above dense woods and pastures, where hiking finds ideal terrain thanks to the dense network of paths. Thanks to the Tremol chairlift in summer, you can easily reach the 1630 metres of the Baita Arneri for a panoramic lunch on the Friuli plain, tasting typical succulent dishes. You can enjoy a more or less demanding trek or launch into a fast descent with your MTB thanks to the chairlift transportation. Families and children will find guaranteed fun at the bottom of the valley in the specially set up area where the adrenaline-pumping bobsleigh on rails awaits young and old alike.

Shelters accessible from the chairlift station:
- Baita Arneri at 1630 metres, info 0039.0434655355.

To enjoy an alternative outdoor experience to the usual overnight stay in a refuge during the weekends of July and August, you can camp at high altitude in the tents that the Arneri shelter makes available in the area surrounding the structure.
