Suggestive loop trail to Casera Friz and the Arneri refuge: dolines and karst sinkholes, beeches, firs and blooms are the protagonists in the Cavallo-Cansiglio group .
Depart from the Piancavallo Infopoint at the intersection of Via Collalto and Piazzale della Puppa. Cross the square until you pass the parish church named after Mary Help of Christians. From the sculpture of the Stone Heart, the starting point of the Botanical Trail, CAI 992 begins. The trail climbs up a moderate slope for a short distance alongside the downhill trail, crossing the first part of the beech forest and then entering deeper and steeper into the beech forest. Continue between slight ups and downs. At the fork, continue along CAI 994 on a modest descent to Cippo Maso and Casera Campo. The recently renovated shelter is surrounded by a large meadow in a splendid panoramic position on the plain.
Go downhill for 200 meters along the Cavallo-Cansiglio ridge. Take the wide mule track to the right (arrow 994) and then take the old connecting path between Casera Campo and Valle Friz. First across a wide meadow, then through the woods following the red-and-white signs. After about 400 meters slightly uphill cross the ridge. A small ladder is visible in front, from which the trail markers start again. When you reach the Casera Friz, take path CAI 984 on the right, which from Mezzomonte climbs to Cansiglio, through a still intact environment of the Cavallo-Cansiglio group. It climbs gently between dolines and karst sinkholes to the junction with CAI 993, discovering beeches, spruces and firs, junipers, splendid blooms and encountering alpine ungulates. When you reach the junction with CAI 993 marker, continue to Baita Arneri, where you can take a break.
Descend toward Piano del Cavallo along the red-and-white marked trail that runs alongside the Tremol 1 chairlift. Return to Piazzale della Puppa.

The trail passes through the forest, which over the years has encroached on the spaces once occupied by the activities of coal miners. Flat spaces about 20 meters in diameter can still be spotted, where the old charcoal kilns once lay. Here, the abundant beech wood was turned into charcoal that was a source of wealth for the inhabitants of the foothills.
