Latisana

Latisana is situated near the seaside resort of Lignano Sabbiadoro. It was founded in the Roman age on the banks of the Tagliamento river, once a privileged transport and trade route.
The town is characterized by a high number of buildings of worship, the Septifanium, which comprises seven churches: San Giovanni Battista, Beata Vergine delle Grazie, Sant'Antonio di Padova, Sant'Anna, Madonna della Strada, Tempio Gaspari and the hospital chapel.

If you have a boat, you can make use of the services of the tourist complex of Aprilia Marittima that, thanks to its three docks and over 2500 mooring places, is considered the most important marina in the upper Adriatic.

Today, with its 14000 inhabitants, Latisana is one of the most active centres of the Bassa Friulana area also thanks to its particular geographical location on the border between Veneto and Friuli.

We would like to recall two important prizes established by the Town of Latisana:
- the Literary Prize "Latisana per il Nord-Est", established to let people discover the literature of this particular geographical area. Since 2012 this prize has been extended to the close Slovenia and in 2013 to Austria and Croatia as well.
- the Prize "Vigilia di Natale", awarded every year on the days before Christmas to the inhabitants of Latisana who have stood out in their job, in science, in social activities, in politics, in sports, in culture, etc.
