Erto and Casso

Although they are united as a single municipality, the two villages of Erto and Casso have marked differences in their history, language and traditions.
However, they have two features in common: their special architecture, for which they have been declared a national monument, and the Vajont disaster of 1963, which struck both villages most severely. Today, the memory of the tragedy is kept alive at the Centro Visite (visitor centre) in Erto in the form of a permanent exhibition.

For nature lovers and hikers, the surrounding areas offer many trails in the beautiful setting of the Friulian Dolomites. Erto is also home to an internationally renowned rock climbing gym.
