Four concerts, from September 21 to December 7, will bring symphonic music and the great orchestral repertoire to Udine’s new Spazio Culturale Creativo. “Lunedì Sinfonica” returns to Cavallerizza and, starting in September, becomes a fully fledged concert series promoted and produced by the Filarmonici Friulani Youth Orchestra. The four-month programme brings together young conductors and soloists who have already established themselves on the national and international scene.
On Monday, October 19 at 8:30 pm, Luciano Siani will take the podium. Born in Rome in 2000, he is the winner of the 19th edition of the 2025 National Arts Award. He graduated in orchestral conducting from the Conservatories of Milan and L’Aquila, while also earning a degree in Musicology from Sapienza University of Rome, completed with a thesis devoted to Claudio Abbado and the rediscovery of Mahler.
He will be joined by Udine-born pianist Sebastiano Mesaglio, a concert pianist whose international training took him to Imola, Paris, Cologne and Perugia, and who is now a faculty member at the “J. Tomadini” Conservatory of Udine.
Mesaglio will be the soloist in Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 102, written in 1957 for his son Maxim: a score in which energy, irony and lyricism coexist with constant references to Classicism. The programme will be completed by Haydn’s Symphony No. 101, “The Clock”, which owes its famous nickname to the regular rhythm marking the second movement.
