Descrizione
Fryderyk Chopin’s two piano concertos, Op. 11 and Op. 21, date from the composer’s early years and already reveal a conception of the piano as a lyrical voice capable of transforming virtuosity into poetic discourse.
In these versions for piano and strings, the works take on a new transparency—a practice entirely consistent with the 19th century, when transcriptions and chamber arrangements allowed the great symphonic and concerto repertoire to circulate in salons and music societies, fostering a more intimate appreciation of the interplay between soloist and harmonic texture.
Chopin’s orchestral writing—often conceived to support and amplify the piano’s singing line—thus achieves a natural, essential quality. The dialogue with the strings highlights the *cantabile* contours, the *rubato*, the harmonic tensions, and that sense of poetic suspension that defines the very essence of his musical language.
The performer is Alessandro Deljavan, whose international career has been marked by his success at the 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and by an exceptionally prolific recording output, in which Chopin plays a central role.
