Brugnera
The municipality of Brugnera, situated near Pordenone, comprises the hamlets of Maron, San Cassiano, Tamai and the locality of Villa Varda where the elegant Villa Varda stands, a typical example of Venetian villa, surrounded by a large park that extends along the Livenza river.
Although evidence of its existence dates back to the year 1000, Brugnera, the homeland of the well-known and bizarre Baroque poet Ludovico Lepòreo, does not preserve, in its often sumptuous modernity, significant memories of the past, except for Casa Porcia (now Brenelli), built in the 17th century on the place of one of the oldest castles of the province, to guard the Livenza pass.
The same can be said for almost all the municipal territory, anciently occupied by marshes and woods and later by large agricultural estates; based on modest handicraft traditions, the furniture industry, extending across the whole Livenza area but having its capital here, has exploded in the latest decades.
