Sedegliano

Situated on the left bank of the Tagliamento, near an area easy to ford, far from marshy and unhealthy areas, since ancient times the territory of Sedegliano has favoured the settlement of various peoples, as proven by many finds.

Under the Roman rule, Sedegliano, too, was colonized.

The town was situated along a road built during the Augustan age, which from Concordia Sagittaria, passing through Codroipo, led to San Daniele and joined the Via Julia Augusta road.

After the rule of the Republic of Venice, the history of Sedegliano is the same as that of the whole Friuli.

One of Sedegliano's oldest buildings is the Castelliere (fortified borough), which dates back to the prehistoric age.
