The
S'Haus van der Zahre Ethnographic Centre in Sauris is located in a rural building (ex stable with nineteenth century barn annex), a typical example of an alpine architectural structure, in stone and wood.
It exhibits work instruments and artefacts, originating from families of the area, that document the cultural characteristics of Sauris-Zahre, a German speaking alpine community whose origin dates back to the mid thirteenth century.
The Centre also offers thematic temporary exhibitions linked from time to time to the tradition, history and language of the territory (the Carnival, crafts, clothing, shepherd’s huts and haymaking, the popular devotion, the history of the woods, communication routes, etc.).
The length of the visit to the Sauris S'Haus van der Zahre Ethnographic Centre is around an hour.
The Sauris Ethnographic Centre is a part of the CarniaMusei museum network.
