Savogna d'Isonzo
The territory of Savogna d'Isonzo extends over an area that comprises flat and alluvial zones between the rivers Isonzo (Soča) and Vipacco (Vipava) south of Gorizia.
There are many walks and tours in green landscapes in the hamlets of Rupa, Peci and Gabria on the Karst.
Remains of the Roman bridge on the Isonzo are evidence of the existence of the Roman road that, from the plain of Friuli, passing through Renče (SLO), led to the centre of Slovenia.
Most of its artistic heritage was lost during the First World War.
Many restaurants and trattorie (Gostilne) provide pleasant breaks.
In the municipality you will find road signs in two languages (Italian and Slovenian) due to the presence of a large Slovenian minority like in most of the municipalities close to the border with Slovenia, which was born after 25th June 1991.
