Coseano

Coseano was, for the first time mentioned, as a territory of the Patriarchate of Aquileia, in a document dated 1202; at that time it was just a group of houses surronding the church of S.Andrea.

After a fire that completely destroyed it, Coseano was re-built along the river Corno; its houses were smaller and one next to the other in order to avoid plunders which very numerous and frequent in that area.

It stayed under the Patriarchate until 1420, when it was annexed to the Republic of Venice. During the 18th and 19th centuries it was inveded by Frenchs, Austrians and Russians who left it in very bad conditions.

In 1866, Coseano was the only one who voted against the annexation to the Reign of Italy. The Austrian domination, during World War I, lasted until November 4th 1918.
