Military remains on the summit

The entire CAI trail No. 147 follows the old Italian mule track, which used to run from the valley bottom to the summit of Mt. Creta di Collinetta. The steep climb is balanced by wide turns; past the Green Crest, you walk through spectacular passageways between giant ciffs, at over 2000 metres ASL.

Historically, the most interesting part of the trail is the stretch going from the fork of the non-signalled track to the plateau where both via ferrata climbing from the Austrian side end. If you observe carefully, you can still see the remains of the reinforcements built to avoid collapse (heavy snow, ice and rain resulted in frequent movement of rocks followed by slides).
After a few steps, the trail is smoother and you start seeing some openings in the rocks. These are small caves dug by soldiers to protect themselves or store ammo. A little further on, the ruins of a military building lie at 2120 metres ASL, facing south and protected by the rocks of the plateau to the north.
You should not get too close anyway as these ruins are located in a particularly exposed point and the terrain is not stable.
