The trail climbing uphill to the summit of Mt. Little Miezegnot was built by Austro-Hungarian soldiers, who obviously needed to create a way sheltered from Italian bombing. This is why the walk is often close to the mountain slope, which still offers the opportunity to admire some caves, remains of barracks, trenches and shelters.
Before reaching the top, you cross the old battlefield, where Italian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers clashed in July 1916. 85 years later, on 15th July 2001, the Association Friends of Valbruna placed a memorial stone to commemorate this tragic episode.
