Height 298, also known as "Trench Hill", is the summit of a rock, where an important army post lies. It was probably used as an observation point serving the several Austro-Hungarian artilleries that blocked the way to Trieste from atop the mount and the rear posts.
Despite the consistent size of the stairs and reinforcements, the interior is quite narrow and small. Around it, you can observe a rock-hewn trench, dry-stone walls and other small caves. From this hilltop, you can easily reach a concrete emplacement nearby, where an anti-aircraft gun was installed, the only one found on the Karst surrounding Trieste so far. Here, you can still see the marks indicating degrees and directions the oriented weapon was pointed at.
